"I couldn't
get onto the dance floor at times as it was so packed!!"
- Thank you so much for everything that you and
the band did on the wedding day. You were all absolutely
fantastic and I have to say, I couldn't get onto the
dance floor at times as it was so packed!! Everyone
commented on how great the band was and I know for a
fact another couple that are getting married have
enquired about you. We went to a wedding at Mallory a
few months ago and there were many of the same guests so
I was desperate for our wedding to be different, having
you there made sure of that. Anyway, I could go on and
on. Thank you so much for helping to make our day so
special!! Love, Adam and Krystal (Mr and Mrs Irwin!!)
"You really
made our wedding day" - Just a small email to
say an absolutely massive thank you for playing such
wonderful sets at our wedding yesterday. We thought you
were amazing - and so many of our guests have commented
about how great they thought you were too. I think the
crowded dance floor and wolf whistles throughout said it
all! You really made our wedding day. Many thanks again,
and best of best wishes. Liz and Paul (Mr and Mrs
Taylor!) xx
"We will not
hesitate to recommend you!" - Thank you all for
a fantastic night! We will not hesitate to recommend
you! Thanks again! love Sarah & Andy xxx
"They were
perfect for our special occasion" - This great
band played at our wedding recently and we cannot praise
them enough. They played two great sets which got
everyone, particularly me the groom, up dancing and
singing along to some great tunes. They were perfect for
our special occasion and we hope to go to one of their
own gigs in the very near future. Book them for your own
celebration and I guarantee you will not be
disappointed. Thanks Jon and fellow band members for
making our special day that extra bit special.
Jim&Val.
"Our friends haven’t stopped texting and ringing saying
how much they enjoyed the day" -
I would just like to say a great big thank you for your
contribution to making our wedding day so fantastic and
making the evening party so enjoyable!! I have obviously
read the testimonials on your website and seen your
videos and therefore was expecting a great evening’s
entertainment, however what you gave us totally
surpassed all our expectations! Our friends haven’t
stopped texting and ringing us saying how much they
enjoyed the day, especially commenting on how fantastic
the band were!! So once again thank you all so much, and
if we ever are throwing a large party again, I will
definitely be calling you, and would not hesitate to
recommend you to anybody else. Thank you. Jill & Harry.
"Brilliant!
... The mix of music was spot on" - Brilliant!
The band played at our wedding reception on August 2nd
and they were amazing, I lost count of how many people
said how good they were. The mix of music was spot
on - it must have been because the dance floor was full
for the entire set! Thanks again, guys. Love Sarah
and Edd xx
"I seriously cannot recommend these guys enough. They
will make your
night fantastic!" -
They are approachable, polite, accommodating with our requests
prior to the wedding, even singing our rewritten version
of our first dance. All of our guests commented on what
a great set they played and there wasn’t anyone that
resisted the temptation to hit the dance floor. A
massive thank you to each band member. I seriously
cannot recommend these guys enough. They will make your
night fantastic!
"They were polite & friendly, extremely professional" -
Junction 2 arrived early and were very well organized.
They were polite & friendly, extremely professional.
Regarding their performance, they exceeded our
expectations!
Blues has evolved from the unaccompanied vocal music and
oral traditions of slaves imported from West Africa
(principally present-day Mali, Senegal, the Gambia and
Ghana)and rural blacks into a wide variety of styles and
subgenres, with regional variations across the United
States. Though blues, as it is now known, can be seen as
a musical style based on both European harmonic
structure and the African call-and-response tradition,
transformed into an interplay of voice and guitar, the
blues form itself bears no resemblance to the melodic
styles of the West African griots, and the influences
are faint and tenuous. In particular, no specific
African musical form can be identified as the single
direct ancestor of the blues. However many blues
elements, such as the call-and-response format and the
use of blue notes, can be traced back to the music of
Africa. That blue notes pre-date their use in blues and
have an African origin is attested by English composer
Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's "A Negro Love Song", from his
The African Suite for Piano composed in 1898, which
contains blue third and seventh notes The Diddley bow (a
homemade one-stringed instrument found in parts of the
American South in the early twentieth century) and the
banjo are African-derived instruments that may have
helped in the transfer of African performance techniques
into the early blues instrumental vocabulary. The banjo
seems to be directly imported from western African
music. It is similar to the musical instrument that
griots played (called halam or akonting by African
peoples such as the Wolof, Fula and Madinka). However,
in the 1920s, when country blues began to be recorded,
the use of the banjo in blues music was quite marginal
and limited to individuals such as Papa Charlie Jackson
and later Gus Cannon. |
