Sunday 28th August 2005

Anybody hoping to see the band at the Party In The Park charity event in Worcester this Sunday 28th August will sadly be disappointed due to an unfortunate foul up by the PITP organisers. Contrary to the fact that the band were oddly billed in some PITP promotional material the band have never received a confirmed booking for this event much to our disappointment. Soul Satisfaction sincerely apologises for any inconvenience and disappointment this may have caused. We will however be performing at the Lickey End Social Club in Bromsgrove on Friday September 16th, so we look forward to seeing you all there. Details will soon available in the Gig Guide.

Thursday 2nd December 2004

The band performed at the popular Bamboo Club in Worcester last month, resulting in one of Soul Satisfaction's most celebrated gigs to date. The band also had a feature done on it by the Worcester Evening News the night of the gig. Below is a review of the gig for your reading. Also the downloads section here at Soul-Satisfaction.co.uk has been updated with some video clips, captured at some of our most recent gigs. Watch out for Steve's actions when he asks the audience "Do you like good music?" in the 'Sweet Soul Music' clip taken at the Home Guard Club in October. Entertaining stuff!

The Bamboo Club, Worcester, Friday 19th November 2004

The Bamboo Club, situated by the River Severn in sunny Worcester, was packed close to capacity on Friday, 19th November. The resident DJ provided loud 70’s and 80’s sounds that entertained the audience prior to the bands first set. All five bars provided a flow of refreshments to the crowds, who flocked to fill the dance floor as soon as the band started up with the cry “Do like good music?”. Soul Satisfaction was tight and obviously took enjoyment from playing good fun soul music. The audience stood, captivated, for the start of “Bye Bye Baby”. Jo started the song with an ear catching cry that could have woken the dead! Nice one Jo! Jemma sang, “Take another piece of my heart” with so much feeling that everyone present wanted to take more. Steve gave his all, as usual, with notable performances of “Hold on, I’m coming” and the anthem, “Soul Man”. Jem, Nicky and Dave, the Soul Satisfaction horn section, provided a full brass sound that filled the room and complimented the authentic soul music from the vocalists. It was late when encores were demanded and the band responded by playing and entertaining the huge audience until 12.50 am! A happy crowd left the Bamboo Club fully satisfied with sounds of Soul Satisfaction. Their ears were still ringing to the echoes of “Shake a Tail Feather”. A return to the Bamboo Club is planned for 2005. Don’t miss it.

Tuesday 5th October 2004

Below are reviews of both our gig's at the Tardebigge in Birmingham, back in July, and of our most recent performance at the extremely welcoming Home Guard Club in Tiddington.

The Home Guard Club, Tiddington, Stratford upon Avon, Saturday 2nd October 2004

The Home Guard Club recently came under new management and as a result has started to introduce musical acts to their main activity schedule. Soul Satisfaction showcased the largest number of musicians ever to have graced their stage, a compact but nevertheless friendly arena. The audience were so keen to start the proceedings that StickyT, was still changing into his “gig gear” when the audience was trying to get in! Soul Satisfaction was tight and the vocalists, Steve, Jemma and Jo obviously enjoyed singing and playing good soul music. Fully “satisfied” from the first set a break was taken to enjoy a barbecue.

For the second set, Jem, Nicky and Dave, the Soul Satisfaction horn section, provided the full harmony brass sound that Soul Satisfaction are notorious for supplying. It was good, honest, authentic soul music. Jon’s Hammond keyboard sounds supplemented the brass and guitar to build everything up into a wall of sound that only real instruments can provide. Synthetic sounds and backing tracks have their place but it is not in Soul Satisfaction. Special audience attention was given to “Soul Man” and “Treat her Right”. The floor was full and heaving as the dancing audience enjoyed the Blues Brothers and Commitments style music. The audience reaction was first rate, they wanted more ; demanding and received two encores. Thanks Tiddington.

The New Tardebigge, Redditch, Birmingham, Tuesday 20th July 2004

The New Tardebigge, situated by the M42 near Redditch, Worcestershire, included an audience of diners who had completed a good value pub meal as well as those who had travelled to witness the music. The band provided loud Soul sounds that entertained the audience prior to the headlining band's set. The bar provided a flow of good beer and refreshments to the audience who appreciated the refreshing music. Soul Satisfaction was tight and the back line rhythm section, Tony, John, Jonathan and Jon obviously enjoyed holding the groove down and playing that good soul music. Jem, Nicky and Dave, the Soul Satisfaction horn section, provided the full brass sound that is of course an essential ingredient for creating authentic soul music. Rob, the sound engineer, using the pub PA system, struggled with the sound a little due to the room acoustics, however it didn't prevent the audience  from demanding two encores! Fully “satisfied”, this forced the headline band to start late. Sorry. The landlord requested a return gig to the New Tardebigge at our next available free date.

Thursday 22nd July 2004

Following our recent visit to Woodbine Street Studios the band are pleased to announce that we now have a top selection of demo tracks available for your listening pleasure. The tracks are performed completely live and both extract and complete versions are available direct from the downloads section.

For preview purposes Demo CD's are also available on request.

Saturday 26th June 2004

Just about the same time this very website was launched Soul Satisfaction played their first couple of gigs as a full 10 piece. Below are reviews looking back on those two events.

Jam Session at the Bread & Roses, Centenary Place, Birmingham, Tuesday 18th May 2004

Soul Satisfaction were the band supporting this late night social event for the Association of Clinical Biochemists Annual Conference. Musicians attending the Conference from different parts of the UK came together to jam with the band and special guest keyboard player Hugh Mitchell. Highlights of the night were “Johnny B Goode” with Allan Thompson from Bayer Diagnostics on guitar, and “Mustang Sally” with Ian Watson from Aintree Hospital on drums. Allan just pipped Ian for the best Jam of the night. David’s improvisations on tenor sax with trombone and keyboards accompaniment were particularly admired. The raffle raised £100 for Acorns Children’s Hospice. Thanks must go to Roche Diagnostics for sponsoring the event, and Fairdeal Music for keyboard rental - cheers Gary!

Association of Clinical Biochemists Annual Conference Banquet, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Wednesday 19th May 2004

Soul Satisfaction played a 45 minute set to get everyone up on the dance floor after their four course dinner and speeches from the professors. They may be scientists, but they certainly liked to party! Steve provided the jokes and Jemma and Jo the attitude. The horn section were faultless; Tony laid down a solid beat and John’s new Fender bass proved a good buy! Jonathan (the only clinical biochemist in the band) and Jon provided the chords, but both had a chance of a solo or two! The crowd specially liked our version of “Soul Man” where each member of the band is introduced and has chance to strut their stuff. We mustn't forget Rob and Mel who did a fantastic job on the mixer struggling with unfriendly acoustics, Robert the Roadie who provided support, transport and champagne, and Fiona the food! A great night was had by all; Jemma and Jo enjoyed it so much they were still singing at 2:30am after we had packed away all the gear! We are booked for another major function at the Botanical Gardens in January 2005.

Wednesday 19th May 2004

Soul-Satisfaction.co.uk today was finally launched onto the web, giving us our first online portal. The site contains dedicated contact pages for site registration and official and un-official communications with the band. There is an area dedicated to showcasing the members of the band, as well as a wallpaper gallery for keeping your PC's desktop full of soul.

The Gig Guide area is an easy reference to keep up-to-date with when and where the band is next scheduled to perform. There is also an area where you can download and listen to recordings made by the band.

Satisfied? You should be.
